My Approach

Adolescent and young adult mental health is about more than solving today’s problems. It's also about learning the skills and developing the insight needed to become successful adults. I specialize in the particular developmental challenges that are at the heart of this stage of life. Common challenges that teens need help with include: developing mature communicate styles, learning to accept their increasing responsibilities, finding positive expressions for their emerging identities, beginning to navigate romantic relationships, and learning to accept who they are. The difficulty of growing though these challenges is increased when a teen also has mental health needs. I help teens address their immediate mental health needs and developmental challenges so they are prepared to flourish as adults.

Everyone who comes to therapy presents with different concerns and needs, because of this I bring a unique combination of therapeutic approaches and skills to each session. These approaches include, existential therapy, rational emotive behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, Jungian oriented psychotherapy, mindfulness, as well as others. I have extensive training and experience working with teens who misuse substances or have been negatively affected by the substance use of important relatives.
